Company Founder
Diane started her career over thirty-five years ago at Bain & Company, as the Financial Controller in the London office, liasing between London and Boston, USA.
She decided to go solo in 1985 and registered as self-employed eventually founding Elm Financial Solutions Limited (then called Diane Hammerton Ltd) in 2007. Since then, she has worked for many different clients ranging from sole traders to large multinational corporations. She has a wealth of experience from her many years in the industry, which is now invaluable to Elm Financial Solutions.
Diane sees work as her weekly escape. However, when you manage to drag her away from her work (not an easy task!) you will find her in the garden either pottering with her plants, running up the Derbyshire hills, out for a day cycling on the tandem, or playing with her grandchildren. Being the adventurous type, Diane is always keen to try new things. You often find her on her body board in Cornwall or on the ski slope, although how much skiing she actually does is questionable.
Chartered Certified Accountant
Katie started her career in accounting at the age of fifteen, aiding Diane with data entry for some clients in order to earn enough pocket money to go out socialising!
Katie qualified with a first honours degree at Sheffield University in Accounting and Financial Management in 2009. When she left university, she joined Elm Financial Solutions Ltd and hasn't looked back since. She then continued her studies to become a member of the institute for Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
Some may say she is a workaholic; she was in the office the day she had her children and back in the office the evening after. In her spare time, she is a full-time mum, engaging in after school activities. She also loves to organise charity events, which are usually an excuse for a good party but with the added benefit of raising funds for some great local charities. She loves to be active and every year drags the whole family down the ski slope, from Grandad to Grandchildren.
